Looking for a safe place to meet other LGBTQ+ young people?
Shout Out is a welcoming support and social group where you can be yourself, make friends and connect with others.
We meet weekly at a central Newport location. If you’re aged 14-25 and live in Gwent, we’d love to welcome you to our group.
What do we do in the group?
Our group is a relaxed and welcoming space where LGBTQ+ young people can meet others, have fun and take part in activities together.
Activities might include:
- Art and creative activities
- Games
- Films
- Outings and picnics
- And anything else the group would like to do!
Ultimately, you have a say in what we do. We want the group to be shaped by the young people who attend, so your ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
Do my parents or carers have to know that it is an LGBTQ+ group?
No. We understand that everyone’s circumstances are different.
When you sign up, there is an option for you to tell us that, if we ever need to contact your parent or carer, we can refer to the group as a “Shout Out wellbeing group” rather than an LGBTQ+ group.
How big is the group?
The size of the group can vary from week to week. On average, we have around 5–10 young people attending each week, making it a friendly and manageable group where everyone can get involved.
Do I need to have experience of mental health problems to join?
No. You do not need to have experienced mental health problems to attend.
The group is open to all LGBTQ+ young people in Gwent. Whether you want to meet new people, make friends, take part in activities or simply have a safe and welcoming space to spend time, you are welcome to join us.
