Sessional CYP Counsellor

To act as a professional counsellor, providing safe, ethical, person-centred and trauma-informed therapeutic support.

To work with Children and Young people experiencing a range of mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties, supporting them to explore their experienced and develop appropriate coping strategies.

To provide counselling sessions in accordance with organisational policies, professional standards and ethical frameworks.

To deliver high quality, evidence-informed counselling interventions that promote improved mental health, emotional wellbeing, resilience and personal development.

Responsible to: Mind in Gwent Counselling Service Manager

Grade: NJC 15 – 22 £31,015 – £34,811
The post is aligned to NJC Scale Points 15–22 (£31,015–£34,811 per annum, pro rata). As this is a zero-hours sessional post, payment will be made at an hourly rate equivalent to the applicable point on the salary scale, inclusive of 12.07% rolled-up holiday pay.

Hours: This is a zero-hours sessional role with no guaranteed minimum hours. Counselling sessions will be offered in line with service demand, waiting lists, funding availability, operational requirements, clinical suitability and the post-holder’s availability. The number of sessions offered may vary over time according to the needs and financial viability of the counselling service.

Housing and Tenancy Support Worker

To provide structured housing related support to tenants of Mind in Gwent Supported Housing, and floating tenancy support to people experiencing mental health difficulties. 

To act as keyworker providing practical and emotional support, advice, information and advocacy towards the goal of achieving greater independence in the community. 

To liaise with a range of statutory and voluntary professionals and organisations to maximise resources for the client. 

Responsible to: Housing and Supporting People Programme Manager 

Salary: NJC 8-14 (£26,824.00- £30,515.00) per annum

Hours: 37 hours   

Contract Term:  Fixed Term until 31 March 2027

Location: Newport 

Closing date: 12pm Wednesday 21st October

Interviews: Wednesday 28th October

Clinical Placement Opportunities at Mind in Gwent Counselling Service

We are seeking Volunteer Counsellors to offer one-to-one weekly counselling to a minimum 3 adults weekly. 

• All trainee applicants must be on a Level 4 course or above, or in their 2nd year or above of a recognised/accredited training institution
