A word from our CEO
It’s been nearly two years since the merger of Mind Monmouthshire, Newport Mind, and Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent Mind. So why the big fuss about the change over to Mind in Gwent?
When the charities merged back in October 2023 we wanted to keep a local focus and maintain the individual identities of the services, but under the Mind in Gwent banner. Now, nearly two years on, the practical implications of the merger, including the de-registering of the previous charities with our regulators, and the need to align some of our paid for services across the region has meant that we will now be known as Mind in Gwent across all our service areas.
So what does this mean for the people who use our services, our supporters, and our partners?
The good news is that the people who use our services will be unaffected by the change of name. They will continue to receive the same high quality service from the same staff team that they always have. We are committed to delivering the best mental health provision for the people of Gwent.
Our supporters can still support us, either by contacting our fundraising team through our new website, or by calling one of our local offices. One of the main things to come out of the merger is a commitment to some new fundraising roles to help us generate additional income to continue to grow mental health services across the region.
We have been in close contact with our partners, including funders and local authorities, who have supported our work for many years and we hope they will continue to do so.
There are some changes coming for our social media profiles and on our new website. We are consolidating our existing websites under a new Mind in Gwent website, and we have opened new Mind in Gwent profiles on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. You may have seen recent posts encouraging our followers on social media to join us on our new channels, details of which are in the footer at the bottom of this page.
As with all change it is going to take some time to get used to, but you can rest assured that everyone at Mind in Gwent will continue to fight for a future where no mind is left behind.
With very best wishes
Dave
