Join Us for the Next Newport Community of Practice Meeting

We’re delighted to invite professionals, parents and carers, young people and community members to our next Mind in Gwent Newport Community of Practice meeting.

πŸ“… Date: Wednesday 24 June 2026
πŸ•™ Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm
πŸ“ Venue: Mind in Gwent Newport Office, Training Room (Floor 1)

The Community of Practice provides a welcoming space for people who are passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people in Newport. It’s an opportunity to connect with others, share experiences, learn about local services and explore how we can work together to make a positive difference.

Agenda Highlights

Local Service Updates

We’ll begin with updates from around the table, giving attendees the chance to share information about current services, projects and support available for young people across Newport.

Guest Speaker: Bethan Allen

We’re pleased to welcome Bethan Allen, Team Manager for Newport Youth & Play Service, who will be sharing reflections from a recent trip to Belfast for the 2026 International Women’s Day event, Right, Justice, Action.

Bethan supported eight young women involved with Newport Youth Services through local youth clubs and Newport Youth Council to attend the event alongside partner organisations from Northern Ireland, Scotland and England. The rally, themed “Strength in Solidarity”, was led by the women’s collective Reclaim the Agenda and brought together young people from across the UK to celebrate and champion women’s voices. Highlights included hearing from former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, and opportunities for young people to engage directly with inspiring speakers and activists.

Looking Ahead Together

We’ll also be holding a group discussion about the future direction of the Community of Practice, exploring priorities, goals, and opportunities for collaboration moving forward.

Any Other Business

As always, there will be time for attendees to raise additional topics and share ideas.

A Community-Led Conversation

While Mind in Gwent facilitates these sessions, the discussions are shaped by those who attend. The topics explored often reflect the experiences, challenges and opportunities identified by the local community.

Whether you’re a professional working with young people, a parent or carer, a young person yourself, or simply someone with an interest in youth mental health, we’d love to welcome you.

We look forward to seeing you on 24 June and continuing these important conversations together.
